5TH ANNUAL THANKS FOr GIVING BASKET COLLECTION

This is our 5th Annual “Thanks for Giving” Food Collection Project, and we continue to make a difference in the lives of members of our communities: through our Load of Love Laundry Project; helping our environment through programs like Vineland and Buena Clean Communities; creating a place where our kids can play safely like the playground for the Boys and Girls Club; providing scholarships to high school students; and now seeing that our less fortunate families can make a great memory by having a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner provided by the Tri County Rotary Club.

The harsh reality for us, our members, is that so many of us don’t have the time between work, and family obligations to actually volunteer at a food pantry; we may not all be able to cook or serve hot meals at a shelter.  If you are able to, we thank you dearly, but here’s what we can do... simply grocery shop for items on our list. We all grocery shop anyway as part of our weekly activities, so why not help our families at the same time.

Imagine how our 25 families could be blessed with a delicious Thanksgiving dinner if everyone chipped in and bought a few items each time they went food shopping. Most food banks organize non-perishable food drives during the holidays. They then put together bags or boxes containing all the traditional Thanksgiving trimmings, which are then delivered to or picked up by families in need to take home and prepare.  We want to do one better.  We have updated our list if items to include fresh vegetables, decreased our grocery list and increased our Shop Rite gift card to $25.00 to that we can accommodate our families with special needs, like lactose free milk, and sugar free items.

So, the next time you go grocery shopping, take along your list and pick up the items you have selected.  You can get them to us in three (3) ways:

  1. by bringing them to a club meeting
  2. by dropping them off at Melanie Druziako's House located at 1716 Garwood Lane, Vineland
  3. by calling Melanie at (609) 774-3671 to make arrangements to get them to her.

Deadline to receive the groceries are between now and Saturday, November 20th.

It’s important to please stick to the list item to size and type, so that all baskets will be the same. We will be preparing and organizing our 25 food baskets at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church 301 N 3rd St, Millville, NJ 08332 on Sunday, November 21st at 10:00AM. We will need members to volunteer to help unload the groceries and organize the baskets so they can be presented to the families that day.

Our Club has received a most generous donation of Turkeys from the Boys and Girls Club of Vineland.  Thank you to Chris Volker, member, and Director of the BGC for thinking of us, and Bottino Shop Rite has donated 50 Vinyl Bags.

An entire basket costs approximately $200.00.  So, please be as generous as you can.  This is our time to show our support and love for our communities.  "Thanks for Giving" is one of our projects that receives the most participation from members.  We hope that everyone will continue that tradition and contribute to this worthy cause.

Thank you from the bottom of our heart,

Tri County Rotary Club

5th Tuesday Fun and Fellowship
Tuesday, November 30th from 5:30pm till? at the Greenview Inn, 4049 Italia Ave, Vineland, NJ 08361

When District Governor Chuck Watson came for his Club Visit in September, he gave us 3 words of wisdom.  Climb (to do our Rotary work), Pause (to stop and smell the roses, have fun and enjoy each other), and Pull (to reach down and pull someone up - that's what Rotarians do).

President Colleen's theme for her year is to have Fun, Friendship, Family, and Fundraising.

Our 5th Tuesday is designed to satisfy all of our goals in one event.

Don't miss out! We had 35+ people at our last one.  Many stayed for dinner.  Just let us know if you can make it.
Gingerbread Houses & Memories
Family FUN Activity
Saturday, December 4th - Gingerbread Houses and Memories from 10AM to 12Noon at the Carl V. Arthur Recreation Center, 187 North 3rd Street, Vineland, NJ 08360

What is the significance of the gingerbread house?

It is said that Gingerbread houses can be traced as far back as Ancient Greece and Egypt. Gingerbread is said to have been invented by a monk to help cure indigestion. It is said that Queen Elizabeth I came up with the concept of the gingerbread man after wanting to present them to visiting officials as gifts.

"A Gingerbread House can be a House Full of Memories.  That's our goal", said Carolyn Kaspar, who crafted the idea her first near as a new member.  In partnership with the Boys and Girls Club, we have an opportunity to bring a little celebration and family time for some special families. Come and join us on Saturday, December 4th.

Rotary Holiday Party
Tuesday, January
The date is Tuesday, December 3rd in the Rose Room.  We are having a Family Style Dinner, much like the dinner at your own home.  For this style, plates and platters of the selected foods are brought to each table, and you and your guests pass them around to one another - taking what you like in unlimited quantities.  You will get the variety of a buffet with the convenience of a sit-down dinner.

The cost for this is $40.00 per person.  We will be having a cash bar and for those who have special dietary restrictions, arrangements can be made, but must be made in advance.

Puerto Rico Promise
As we have been talking about for some time now, the Puerto Rico Trip is really happening.

We are looking for a mix of 24 Adults/ Interactors/ Rotaractors to serve the community of Caguas. The group flight will be arranged once we have our 24, and it looks like pricing is coming in at about $425+/-. The rest of the details and downloadable flier and application packet are below.  Please be aware of the deadlines.
