Good Afternoon Fellow Rotarians, On behalf of our Tri County Rotary Club Environmental Service Director, Jeff Bordley, the City of Vineland Environmental Commission and the American Littoral Society are looking for volunteers from the Tri County Rotary Club to help with maintenance of the *riparian buffer at Giampietro Park. *A riparian buffer or stream buffer is a vegetated area near a stream, usually forested, which helps shade and partially protect the stream from the impact of adjacent land uses. It plays a key role in increasing water quality in associated streams, rivers, and lakes, thus providing environmental benefits. Maintenance would include repairing tree stakes and mesh, and general clearing of vines and invasive plants along the area planted previously with small trees. This is a large area, so the more the merrier! Date/time: Saturday April 17th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Location: Giampietro Park is located at Lincoln and Landis Avenues in Vineland. There are entrances on both Landis Avenue and Lincoln Avenue. Meet near the Auditorium. We will be working closer to the Landis Ave side of the park. Minors are welcome but we will need a parent/guardian to sign you in upon arrival. We will keep you updated on any changes due to weather conditions. If you can attend, please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for an area that is overgrown and muddy, as well as work-gloves if you have them. |
